Ice Rink and Leisure DevelopersWelcome to the website for Burnham Development (Somerset) Ltd. We are niche leisure developers and operators of ice rink led projects in the West Country working within the entertainment and leisure sector. Our work involves site purchase, working in partnership with public sector organisations and managing the design construction process to the completion of the finished facility. From Concept through to CompletionBurnham Development was formed in January 1999 with the intention of providing a Multi Purpose Ice Arena at Burnham on Sea in Somerset to provide a facility which both young and old to enjoy. In July 2003 it was decided to form a limited company as we were having trouble in convincing people that we were serious about what we were trying to do and Burnham Development (Somerset) Limited was formed. We then went on to manage the entire project. John Collinson, Project Development Consultant said at the time: "We eventually found a suitable site at Stoddens Road Burnham which was very good and it was decided to move forward. The site at Stoddens Road Burnham on Sea is next to the BASC Sports ground which makes it an ideal site for such a facility which is within easy reach of the M5 motorway, as well as this we have another two potential sites at Bournemouth and Newquay. The proposed facility will have 2500 fixed seats a 60 x 30 Olympic size ice pad and a smaller ice pad for Toddlers and learners as well as a Curling rink plus other facilities, There will also be ice hockey both junior and senior players as well as professional Basketball. Also available will be professional people to teach ice skating and ice dancing to a very high standard, we shall also be providing other events from time to time with the ice covered." Ice Rink OperatorBurnham Development will operate the completed ice rink with its own bar/restaurant facilities. The ice rink will be for community ice skating with coaches available for skating, ice dancing and ice hockey. In addition there will be professional competitive ice hockey, ice shows and ice discos. We can cover the ice on occasions for sports such as professional basketball. Other sports and leisure uses will form part of the complexes managed by others along with a variety of ancillary food and beverages outlets |
